Special Issue on Advances in Modeling and Simulation

Guest Editor: Jinrong Zhu
The theory and technology of modeling and simulation are proceeding apace and they have been widely applied in various kinds of fields that include industry, agriculture, military affairs, economy and so on. Now, modeling and simulation have been focused by researchers, industry professionals and academics. In recent years, more and more original theories, tools, methods and technologies are put forward and tons of innovative integrated technologies are developed in the domain of modeling and simulation. The objective of the Special Issue on Advances in Modeling and Simulation is to bring together the state-of-the-art research contributions that address the various critical issues in modeling, simulation and their applications. 11 outstanding papers are selected in this special issue, the key ideas of all papers are listed as follows.
Zeng-Rong Hu, Dong-Hai Li, et al analytically designed PID decoupling controller by means of powerful robustness of two degree-of-freedom PID Desired Dynamic Equation (DDE) method and the Monte-Carlo stochastic experiment is introduced to analyze performance robustness of the controller.
Xudong Zhu, Zhijing Liu and Juehui Zhang proposed a novel unsupervised learning framework for anomalous activity detection.
Jiong Yi, Lei Zhang, et al suggested an efficient initial alignment method for SINS based on a six-degree of freedom inertial measurements unit (IMU).
Hui Du and Weiting Yu devised a MEASUR (Methods for Eliciting, Analyzing and Specifying User’s Requirement) and RUP (Rational Unified Process) combined business modeling method based on the comparison of the two methods respectively from the semantics, pragmatics and social world of the semiotic framework. The method proposed consists of three activities in sequences, which are UML UCD Modeling, Extended UML AD Modeling and OC Modeling.
Ke Zhang and Shengze Wang introduces an optimization design for a planar parallel controllable five-bar mechanism to improve kinematic performance of the mechanism, and a hybrid optimization algorithm which combines Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) with MATLAB Optimization Toolbox is proposed to solve the optimal design problem with constraint condition.
Based on the theory of pollutant mixing zone, Zhou-hu Wu, Wen Wu and Gui-zhi Wu deduced the calculation equations of lateral diffusion coefficient and vertical diffusion coefficient with the characteristic parameters of pollutant mixing zone. The practical method that calculate vertical diffusion coefficient by concentration of surface transverse integration was also proposed.
